Field Day For The Hams

Although I didn’t participate in any Field Day events this year, I did assemble with the saints (ham radio operators) this morning at the TRW Swap Meet.

I picked up three rechargeable fluorescent portable lanterns cheap for blackout bags and a bunch of free RF connectors and rubber duck antennas that the fellow didn’t want to haul around anymore. A common benefit of waiting until closing when vendors are lowering their prices.

The HF rig I wanted went hours earlier, so I was told–an incentive to show up at the 7 am opening time. Tough for me to do some Saturdays. Tonight I’m going to see the documentary Fuel at a KPFK benefit screening at the Grand Warner theater in San Pedro. Read more about it at my Resilient Freedom blog post, “Fuel Film Shows Oil Alternatives.”

The TRW Swap Meet is from 7 to 11:30 am on the last Saturday of each month at the corner of Aviation and Marine in Redondo Beach, California.
