To open a related can of worms and put them into the political compost pile, check out the article and comments for http://c4ss.org/content/1738

"Advocates of Freed Markets Should Embrace “Anti-Capitalism”"
Posted by Gary Chartier

Individual rights, property and contracts without a state might fit one of the definitions of "capitalism." But the author suggests dropping the term anyway because of the confusion with corporate fascism that you were describing.

My use of the term depends on the audience.

This is great Ken! I'm trying to noodle through the question of which side of politics I could in good faith align myself with. Who's most likely to get the government OUT OF MY WAY so that I can actually start a small local food business someday without living in fear of the beauracrats finding some clever way to steal it from me.

Who's going to say that if I want to shoulder the risk of building my own home out of mud and straw, it's my own damn business!!!

I think that any permacultuarist who has not yet discovered they are a libertarian, simply hasn't yet learned what a true libertarian is. The word has become entirely tainted by an entirely different thing called CORPORATE LIBERTARIANISM, which at it's core seeks preference for the largest businesses in America. I daresay that if the witch of the north ever calls herself a libertarian, this will be the sort she means.

Thank you for putting this out there to help me learn about the sad direction the tea party is taking....but it seems alot of tea party people are on board the the for profit turn the movement seemed to take.
